Core Documents Required for all Indian e-Visa Types
1. Passport Bio Page
- Upload a clear and colored scan of your original passport’s bio-data page.
- The entire page should be visible, including the applicant’s photo, passport details and MRZ code.
- The scan should not contain reflections, shadows or any obstructed detail.
2. Applicant Photograph
- The applicant’s photo must be digital, coloured and in high-resolution.
- The applicant’s face should be fully visible, centred, and uncovered.
- The image must have a plain white background.
Additional Document Requirements by eVisa Types and their Purposes
Visa Type: e-Tourist Visa 1 year/30 days/ 5 Year
Purpose of Visit: Voluntary work of short duration (for a maximum period of 1 month, which does not involve any monetary payment or consideration of any kind in return).
Required Documents:
1. Letter from the organisation on its letterhead
Copy of a letter issued by the organisation concerned on its official letterhead confirming the applicant’s purpose of visit to India with other relevant information.
Purpose of Visit: Short-term courses on local languages, music, dance, arts & crafts, cooking, medicine, etc., which should not be a formal or structured course/programme courses not exceeding 6 months and not leading to a certificate, diploma or other qualification.
Required Documents:
1. Institute / Organisation / Hospital Letter on Letterhead
A valid scanned copy of a letter from the institute, organisation, or hospital concerned on its official letterhead. It should include details of the short-term course or programme.
Visa Type: India e-Business Visa
The India e-Business Visa covers multiple purposes of travel, and the required supporting documents depend on the purpose selected in the application.
Purpose of Visit:
To set up industrial/business venture
Conducting tours
Sale/Purchase/Trade
Attend technical/business meetings
Participation in exhibitions and business/trade fairs
Expert/specialist in an ongoing project
To recruit manpower
Required Documents:
1. Copy of Business Card
Attach a digital scan of a valid business card, confirming the applicant’s business identity and professional affiliation.
2. Business Invitation Letter
A copy of a business invitation letter that must be issued by an Indian firm, organisation, or company on its official letterhead.
The letter must confirm the purpose of the applicant’s visit to India.
Purpose of Visit: Sports-Related Activity (e-Business Visa)
Required Documents:
1. Approval from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports
An official approval document from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, confirming the applicant’s sports-related visit to India.
2. Invitation Letter by the Sports Federation/Association in India
An official invitation Letter to foreign sports teams and sports persons to visit India by the concerned Sports Federation or Association in India.
Purpose of Visit: To Join the Vessel (e-Business Visa)
Required Documents:
1. Sponsoring Letter from Shipping Agent
Upload a valid, sponsoring Letter from the Indian Shipping Agent or a Foreign Shipping Agent stationed in India, supporting the applicant’s visit to join the vessel in India.
2. Seaman’s Continuous Discharge Certificate Copy
A valid scanned copy of the Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) of the Seamen is required.
It must show details such as the applicant’s name, CDC number and nationality.
Purpose of Visit: To deliver lecture(s) under Global Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN). (e-Business Visa)
Required Documents:
1.GIAN Sanction Order Copy
A clear copy of the sanction order under GIAN issued by the National Coordinating Institute, IIT Kharagpur, supporting the applicant’s participation in the GIAN programme.
2. Invitation of the host institute to the foreign faculty
Provide an invitation letter from a host Indian institute or to a foreign faculty member under the GIAN initiative. Ensure the letter contains course details, expert's financial entitlements (honorarium, travel, and hospitality), and dates.
3. Faculty Course Synopsis Copy
Copy of the synopsis of the courses to be taken up by the faculty. It should reflect details such as the course title and course outline.
Visa Type: e-Medical Visa
Purpose of Visit: Short-term medical treatment of self
Required Documents:
1. System-Generated Medical Invitation Letter
Who provides it
- It is issued by the Indian hospital or medical institution where you plan to receive treatment.
- The hospital must be registered and recognised by the Government of India.
Why it’s needed
- It is a mandatory document confirming your medical treatment and approval from an Indian medical facility.
Visa Type: e-Conference Visa
Purpose of Visit: For attending an international conference/seminar/workshop
Required Documents
Invitation from the Organiser
A letter of invitation from the event organiser confirming the applicant’s participation in the conference, seminar or workshop in India.
MEA Political Clearance
A Political clearance issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, confirming that the event has received political clearance.
Event Clearance from MHA
Event Clearance issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, confirming the approval for attending the conference, seminar or workshop.
Visa Type: e-Ayush Visa
Purpose of Visit: Treatment under Ayush systems/Indian systems of medicine
Required Documents:
1. System-Generated Medical Invitation Letter
A system-generated medical invitation letter issued by the treating hospital or healthcare facility. It should include details of the hospital, the applicant, the proposed treatment, and the authorised signatory.
Visa Type: Indian Miscellaneous Visa
Purpose of Visit: For a person of Indian Origin who are not in possession of OCI Card, and for spouse/children of an Indian Citizen/Person of Indian Origin/OCI Cardholder other than those registered as OCI Cardholder.
Required Documents:
1. Copy of Voter ID card OR Indian Passport of parent/ spouse
Upload any one of the following documents:
- Voter ID Card
OR
- Indian Passport
Important:
- The document must belong to the applicant's spouse or parent who is an Indian citizen.
- Parent’s or spouse’s names and photos must be clearly visible.
2. Cancelled/ surrendered Indian passport with surrender certificate
A clear copy of the cancelled or surrendered Indian passport, along with the surrender certificate, for applicants of Indian origin who surrendered their Indian passport in or after 2010.
3. Parent/Spouse OCI Card Copy
Upload a copy of the OCI card of a parent or a spouse, in the case of those who hold a valid OCI card.
Details such as parents’ or spouse’s name and nationality must be easily readable
4. Birth/Marriage Certificate Copy
Upload any one of the following documents:
- Birth Certificate

- Marriage Certificate

1. Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Clearance
A Clearance letter from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, supporting the proposed and approved filming activities in India.
2. Film Shooting Intent Letter
A formal letter of intent regarding the shooting of the film in India is required.
The letter must include:
- The production schedule particulars of the cast and crew coming to India for the purpose of the shoot.
- The chosen location.
- A list of filming equipment (if any) that is being brought into the country.
- Any other relevant details.

1. Completed Employer Details Proforma
A completed Employer’s detail proforma providing information about the applicant’s current employer, such as the employer’s name and contact details of the company.
2. Dispatch letter of current employer
A dispatch letter issued by the current employer in support of the applicant’s visit to India. The letter should reflect information such as the applicant’s name and the purpose of the visit.
Sponsorship letter of the Inviting company
A sponsorship letter issued by the inviting company to support the applicant’s visit to India for the stated purpose.
Visa Type: e-Transit Visa
Purpose of Visit: For the sole purpose of enabling him/her to travel through India to a destination outside India.
Required Documents:
1. Confirmed Travel Ticket Showing Arrival in and Departure from India
Provide a confirmed flight or travel booking showing your entry into and onward travel from India. The document must clearly display your name, travel dates, and booking details.
