What Is the India e-Entry Visa?

The India e-Entry Visa is designed to facilitate entry into India for individuals who have a recognised personal or family connection to India but do not hold Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status.

Who Can Apply for the India e-Entry Visa?

The India e-Entry Visa is available to the following applicants:

  • Persons of Indian Origin who are not in possession of an OCI card, and
  • Spouse and/or children of:
    • an Indian citizen, or
    • a Person of Indian Origin, or
    • an OCI cardholder

Applicants who are themselves registered as OCI cardholders are not covered under this visa category.

This visa is intended to support entry for individuals with close personal or family ties to India, where OCI registration is not held.

Validity and Entry Conditions

The India e-Entry Visa is issued with a validity of 3 months, calculated from the date of first entry into India.

  • The visa is issued electronically, and the physical visa stamp is placed in the passport upon arrival at an Indian immigration checkpoint.

Apply Online

Complete the India e-Entry Visa Application Form and upload the required documentation.

Pay the eVisa Fee

Submit the applicable eVisa fee online using a credit card, debit card, or other supported payment methods.

Receive ETA

Once the application is approved, the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is sent to the registered email address.

Travel to India

Print the ETA and present it at the immigration checkpoint in India, where the eVisa is stamped on the passport.
