foreign
nationals who need to pass through India while travelling to a
destination
outside India. The application process is completed online, and an
Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is issued before travel.
Document Requirements for India e-Transit Visa
Upload the following required
documents for India e-Transit Visa application:

The applicant's photo, passport details and MRZ code must be clearly
readable.

The entire face of the applicant should be visible with no obstructions.

Submit a confirmed flight or other valid travel ticket with clear arrival
and
departure dates for India.
India e-Transit Visa Application Process
Select the “e-Transit visa” as your type, fill in the
remaining details in the application form
and upload all the required documents.
Pay the applicable eVisa fee online using a credit card, debit card, or
any supported payment method.
Once approved, the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is sent to your
registered email address.
Print the ETA and present it at the immigration checkpoint in India to
receive the visa stamp on your
passport.
India e-Transit Visa Validity, Entries, and Stay Conditions
- Validity: 30 days from the date of first entry on this
ETA
- Entries: Multiple entries
- Maximum stay: Must not exceed 4 days (96 hours) per
entry
- Restrictions: Cannot be used for sightseeing,
employment,
business activities, or extended stays in India.
Conditions:
- Transit must be direct, and the onward journey must be
confirmed.
- Extensions are permitted only in extreme emergencies, such
as
strikes, inclement weather, or illness.
When an India e-Transit Visa Is Not Required
A transit visa is not required in the following situations:
Travelling by Air

If you remain within the designated transit area of the airport and do
not pass through immigration.

The duration of your stay in the designated airport area does not exceed
24 hours.
Travelling by Sea

If you do not leave the ship while it halts at an Indian port.
Note:
If you want to leave your ship to catch a connecting flight, you must have a
valid ticket and
approval from the relevant authorities.

How many processing speeds are available for the India

application?
There are 2 processing options available for the applicants based on their travel
urgency:
Normal Processing
Processed within 3 to 6 days at no additional cost.
Urgent Processing
Processed in 1 to 3 days at an extra cost.
