India eVisa Photo Requirements

At the time of applying for an India eVisa, applicants are required to submit their digital photo which follows all the guidelines listed below.

Acceptable Photo for Indian Visa

Follow the following photo guidelines to make sure the India eVisa application is processed without any delays:

Facial Expression 

Facial expression must be kept neutral; there should be no smiling or frowning expression on your face.

Head & Neck Position

The head & neck should be positioned straight. Avoid tilting your head.

Eyes

Keep the eyes open directly facing the camera.

Photo Framing

Position yourself in the centre of the photo, facing the camera directly, rather than standing too far to one side.

Fashion Accessory

Do not wear any kind of fashion accessory, such as goggles, a cap, or a headband, that covers your eyes and head.

Hairstyling

Hair should be properly groomed; it should not cover your eyes or forehead.

Clothing

Do not wear white-coloured clothes, as they can get mixed with the background.

Background & Shadows

Take the photo against a plain white background with even lighting, make sure there is no glare on the face or shadow in the background.

Digital Editing 

Do not edit your photo to remove visible scars or acne on your face.

Quality

Upload a high-quality photo which is free from blurs and pixelation.

Photo Requirements for Infants and Minors

For Infants

Make sure that parents or anyone is not visible in the background. Avoid taking photos of infants holding pacifiers or toys.

For Minors

The eyes of the minor should remain open. Make sure they do not wear any hats or look away from the camera.
